Fitting Programming Implantable Hearing Devices

As technology advances more and more sophisticated solutions for hearing impaired are available. Most people know the hearing instruments which can be placed in the ear canal or behind the ear and when you go to bed you take them out. What less people know is that it is possible to implant or semi implant hearing instrument, so that it is not necessary anymore to take them out before going to bed or taking a shower. Unlike most other hearing instruments they do not amplify the sound acoustically but how they stimulate the ear is of mechanical nature. This stimulation goes directly to the ear drum or the little bones in the middle ear.

A clear advantage is certainly the possibility of "open fitting". Nothing has to be plugged in the ear which makes hearing more comfortable and natural.
