Supportive Equipment for Children with CAPD, LD, ADHD & Autism

Many children have a problem coping and keeping up with everyday activities. This can be seen in behavioral problems like lack of understanding and the inability to complete tasks. They cannot follow instructions; have short attention spans and impulsive, uncontrolled behavior.

Much of this behavior is typical for impairment of learning and performance in normally intelligent children with no evident of physical or mental health issues, and normal hearing.

Auditory Processing Disorder (APD), Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) or specific Learning Disabilities (LD) are possible diagnoses connected to specific performance deficits.

What all children with the above mentioned problems have in common is the difficulty filtering speech from general environmental noise. This puts them under additional strain in the classroom (or other noisy environments).

Other children can adapt to poor classroom acoustics and selectively filter the teacher's voice.

The same situation completely overwhelms a child with APD, ADHD or LD. That child simply must be able to hear the teacher's voice clearly and without interference.

What is EduLink?

EduLink is NOT a hearing aid! EduLink is a miniaturized FM system especially developed in the context of the specific problems mentioned above.

It is used to complement therapy and ensures that important information reaches the ear as a priority, up to 20 dB louder than the environmental noise!

Studies have shown that children with APD need the teacher's voice up to 20 dB louder than the environmental noise.

EduLink enables the child to receive the teacher's voice at any time without difficulty!

What is FM System?

Basically, a personal FM system consists of 2 components: a FM transmitter (Campus S) and a FM receiver (EduLink).

The FM transmitter is worn by the speaker/teacher. A microphone attached to the FM transmitter picks up the teacher's voice close to the mouth. Because of that the teacher's voice will be always dominant compared to other sounds.

The FM transmitter sends then a (wireless) radio signal to EduLink. Radio signals are not altered by distance and noise. Therefore the child can hear the teacher's voice as if the teacher stands right beside him/her. EduLink can make the teacher's voice up to 20 dB louder than the surrounding environmental noise.

The maximum range of a personal FM is about 30 m.
